Tom Sine Visited KBCTC on 2nd Nov

Tom launched us into an analysis of contemporary Western cultural and economic values and their trajectory, pinpointing a desire within society for authenticity. He inspired us to take the key features of authentic Christian living seriously, challenging us to re-imagine church, communal living and involvement with our global and local communities in Biblically radical, socially engaging ways.

Seeking Accreditation

Rach Leat, our Development and Operations Manager, along with the rest of the staff team, is producing mass amounts of student handbooks, guides, and documentation as we prepare to make an application to accredit the College.  This is to ensure that we are able to continue to enrol Internationals in line with new UK legislation, which takes effect in the Spring.

Please pray for her sanity as the inspection process begins!
Can You Help Us?
Finance Update

Presently, the main source of income for the college is the fees that students pay.  Each year we draw up a budget for the following year "in faith" for a specific number of students - about 33 is our absolute break-even budget. Last year we had fewer students than we really need, and lived off some of the resources gained in previous good years. This year we have 27 students.  We have met with the Trustees and have scrutinised absolutely everything, and cannot see where savings can be made.

We currently have a small but faithful handful of people who support the college regularly, for which we are very grateful!  We ask, as someone who knows first-hand the benefit of a year at college, whether you would prayerfully consider joining them. If everyone gave just £5 monthly that would enable us to not just get through this year but enable us to plan with confidence for the future.

We are excited about what God is doing with the College and want to ensure that its impact continues to increase!

'Beloved Intruder' CD Release
Ellen Miles (2006/07)

I've been working on a CD over the last 9 months and it's now FINISHED! I'm SO pleased with the result - you can listen to some tasters at myspace.com/ellenmiles
I trust God will minister deeply to people through these songs, some of which I was inspired to write during my time at KBCTC ... Some of the songs are about healing processes I've been through or am going through (like "beloved intruder"). Some are written in the midst of tough processes or decisions (like "may I"). Some of the songs are from God's heart (like "tearing me apart"). This is a good gift for anyone who needs a touch from God through music and prophetic lyrics. You can buy the album on itunes from 7th November.

Where are they Now?
John and Heather Bainbridge (2001/02)

Heather is continuing her teaching here (Marseilles) in two local secondary schools as an English teacher and I (John) am in my final year of social work studies, with a lot of stuff on my plate for that. With a couple of other chaps in the church, we're continuing the youth group we started earlier this year ('Antizone') which follows on from the street-work done with younger children in a nearby neighbourhood we used to live in.

Church is steadily moving on, formalising a bit (the church plant we moved to help establish in 2002 is now 6 years old), and really does have  a very different feel to the beginning. I realise now later on how important it is to establish the vision at the beginning of a new project like a church plant, as the idea of reaching out to other nations, for example, is not something that would receive much attention or enthusiasm if things were left to themselves. An ongoing sense that our time here is not over but not eternal either...!
'Life with God' by Richard Foster
Review by Dave Perry

Richard Foster (of Celebration of Discipline fame) has given us an engaging and challenging new book about reading Scripture. Life With God aims to lift Christians out of a data-gathering approach to the Bible and into a God - will - meet - you - in - these - pages - if - you - expect - him - to experience. The book stresses our role: There are things we can do that prepare us to experience the things that only God can do. We can read the Bible expectantly, attentively and humbly. We can take it on its terms - not our own. The book is accessible and refreshing. I recommend it.
