Introduction to Christian Counselling Course
Dates: 11-19 July 2008
This course is for anyone who wishes to understand a Biblical method of counselling and pastoral care, and to begin to develop their listening skills. It is provided by Central Counselling and Training Service, is recognised by the Association of Christian Counsellors and accredited by the National Open College Network at NOCN Level 2. NOCN level 2 is intended as preparation for Certificate in Christian Counselling (NOCN level 3) or higher.

Transforming Culture
Join us in exploring a Christian response to engaging with different aspects of life in the 21st Century. Each evening will address a different topic such as those listed below. The course runs on Tuesday Evenings 7.30-9.30 in the Vale Room, The King’s Centre, Oxford
Jan 15: Introduction to Transforming Culture with Mary Hippsley, KBCTC and Viva Network
Jan 22: Capitalism and Global Responsibility with Charles Hippsley
Jan 29: Issues of Sexuality with Andrew Goddard
Feb 05: Refugees and Asylum Seekers with Catherine Gladwell
Feb 12: Suffering and the use of the Arts with Gill Sakakini, Artist
Feb 26: The State and Politics with Tim and Joy Johnston
Mar 04: The Poor and The Marginalised with Katherine and Chris Thompson
Mar 11: Environmental and Green Issues with Cherryl Hunt
Cost: £5 per evening or £40 for the entire course
During each evening we will attempt to gain understanding of an aspect of our culture, then ask how it measures up against a theological perspective before asking how God might have us participate in his transforming purposes in his world.
