Diploma

Girls PageThe Diploma in Theology, Mission & Biblical Studies is a 10-month course running from September to July and includes lectures, seminars, tutorials, church placements and various other learning opportunities.

We are committed to creating a loving and supportive community in which to learn, helping you wrestle and engage with the Scriptures as you are taught by lecturers from around the world. Together with your fellow students you will search for biblical truth and wisdom in an atmosphere of humility, worship and wholehearted devotion.

The diploma programme consists of three terms:

  • Term 1: "God and the Bible" - gain a solid foundation in biblical studies and expand your understanding of who God really is.
  • Term 2: "The Bible and life" - explore many books of the Bible in greater depth, and consider how they speak to life in today’s world.
  • Term 3: "God and mission" - discover who God has made you to be and find your place in His plan.
  • In addition to studying a number of biblical books each term from Genesis to Revelation, other modules include Church History, Christology, the Nature and Character of God, Spiritual Formation, Trinitarian Studies, Biblical Interpretation, Other Faiths, Prayer and Prophecy and more.

We recognise that people learn in a variety of ways and seek to reflect this in the way we teach. Our goal is to equip you through a variety of different and creative approaches to learning:

Emmaus groups of 4-5 students of mixed academic abilities, background, age and experience meet weekly with their tutor.

Seminars are a small-group forum for presenting research on a topic of theological interest, encouraging the development of biblical thinking through discussion and debate.

Lectures are a vital means of learning for students, exposing them to a rich diversity of both topics and teachers.

Study Skills sessions take place at regular intervals throughout the College year to help you develop tools for learning.

Personal Reading is expected throughout the year with students being encouraged to explore further areas of particular personal interest.

Discussion is an ongoing characteristic of KBCTC, whether in formal groups, or with lecturers over coffee or sharing a good meal.

The Library is a vital resource in helping students to think theologically. Our expanding library now includes audio facilities and a growing catalogue of journals.

Written, Creative and Oral assignments are regular means of assessment aimed at helping students achieve their potential.

Please contact us if you would like more information on the detail of individual modules. (Modules are subject to change - please check with us if there is a particular module you are interested in).
