Alumination - Our Bi Monthly Update
|
August 2009
|
This update comes hot on the heels of two bits of great news that we couldn't wait to share with you: firstly we have been awarded Accreditation with the British Accreditation Council and secondly we survived the 10 Tors Challenge! We are thrilled with the news from the BAC and see this as a significant marker in the life of KBCTC. So the journey continues ... if the 10 tors is anything to go by there will be some rocky terrain ahead but we are confident of God's leading and direction and his faithfulness in all things.
I trust you find some rest, refreshment and time to reflect on your own journey with God this summer.
Every blessing, Simon.

KBCTC Accreditation
The news from our Accreditation Inspection is positive - hurrah!
We very much saw God's hand at work during the Inspectors visit and those of us in the 'hot seat' felt very supported by the prayers of the saints, we greatly appreciate your part in that!
An article on the BBC website recently disclosed that the approved list of colleges for sponsoring UK student visas has shrunk dramatically following the introduction of the new regulations by the Border Agency. There had been about 15,000 public and private educational institutions on the government's register. The new list, vetted by the UK Border Agency, now only has 1,500 institutions registered. With KBCTC that's now 1,501! |

09/10 Applications
We have received 25 applications for September, which is good, but we'd love to have 40! There are lots of people thinking about what to do with their life who just need a nudge to think about KBCTC! You really are our best adverts, so nudge away!!! |
Miriam's Move...
For the last four years since college I've been living in Oxford and working for BMS World Mission in a variety of roles, doing research and admin. I've also still been involved in KBCTC as a tutor and it's been great to have got to know so many of the students. However, this is all changing soon and I'm heading to Wales in September to start a year of mission training with World Horizons. After that I hope to be going to North Africa with WH and growing team from Oxford Community Church. This has almost come as a bit of surprise to me as I always thought I was headed to France! But God has gradually turned my eyes a bit further south and I'm excited about the journey ahead. There are still lots of pieces of the jigsaw to be put in place but I'm trusting that God will do that at the right time. If you'd like to hear more about what I'll be doing in the future, please do get in touch! miriambiddlecombe@hotmail.com

We did it!
Last weekend, 14 brave heroes were trudging across deepest darkest Dartmoor through ferocious wind and torrential rain (true british summer weather!) to raise £10,000 for the development of KBCTC, including validating the course and developing the new third term tracks in 2010.
Thanks to all our supporters, helpers, donators, friends, families and well-wishers who made it happen. It was an awesome weekend and a true challenge. We came away with a deep sense of respect for Dartmoor!

The staff team consisted of Simon Shaw, Paul Hettler, Mark Eley, Mark Coghlan, Beth Coghlan, Charles Hippsley, and Simon Cox. Students: Jon Kennedy, Sarah Fotherby, Jon McNally, Hannah Stone, Megan Dean, Matt Horner and Eddy Amponsah - respect. |
