Tom Sine Visits 2nd Nov
Tom launched us into an analysis of contemporary Western cultural and economic values and their trajectory, pinpointing a desire within society for authenticity. He inspired us to take the key features of authentic Christian living seriously, challenging us to re-imagine church, communal living and involvement with our global and local communities in Biblically radical, socially engaging ways.

Muscular Christians
The following article recently appeared in a local newspaper: "There was probably no-one attending who didn't thoroughly enjoy the recent 'pub quiz' hosted by the students of KBCTC at the Dean Court Social Club recently. There was only one bible question, and even a devout atheist like me thought I knew the answer! These kids are fun, outgoing and not 'preachy'. What Thomas Arnold would have termed 'muscular Christians' I suppose. Amidst the current public disillusionment with our children's lot, fuelled by the recent UNICEF report (pretty well the worst cared for, worst educated, worst behaved and least happy in the Industrial world) it was hard to equate these young people with the popular view of disaffected youth. Neither was it easy to discern the signs in the local kids happily playing pool with the students and fielding their own team in the quiz. Maybe we are luckier than we realise having these kids living on the Pinnocks Way estate!"
